Palo Duro Canyon Real Estate and Community Information-Canyon, Texas is a great community south of Amarillo in the Texas Panhandle. It is Home to,  Palo Duro Canyon–The Grand Canyon of Texas. West Texas A & M University, Panhandle Plains Historical Museum, the famous Texas-Outdoor Musical also make their home in Canyon. It is in Randall County and it is the County Seat.  Canyon was founded on Christmas Day in 1887 and was incorporated in 1906. The climate in Canyon is dry with the average rainfall averaging 20 inches per year.  The summers are hot with low humidity.  The temperature can be pleasant throughout the year and it varies widely from day to day. All seasons have mild days and days where the weather is extreme.  The wind blows very hard sometimes.

Canyon is home to West Texas A & M University.  There are several colleges and technical schools in nearby Amarillo.  There are quite a few churches in Canyon and lots of places to eat in Canyon.
